ZEOLITE n.
and gneiss. So called because many of these species intumesce before the blowpipe. Needle zeolite, needlestone; natrolite.
AMYGDALOID n.
n part, by nodules or geodes of different minerals, esp. agates, quartz, calcite, and the zeolites. When the imbedded minerals are detached or removed by decomposition, it is porous, like lava.
ANALCIME n.
A white or flesh-red mineral, of the zeolite, occurring in isometric crystals. By friction, it acquires a weak electricity; hence its name.
APOPHYLLITE n.
A mineral relating to the zeolites, usually occurring in square prisms or octahedrons with pearly luster on the cleavage surface. It is a hydrous silicate of calcium and potassium.
EPISTILBITE n.
A crystallized, transparent mineral of the Zeolite family. It is a hydrous silicate of alumina and lime.
HEULANDITE n.
A mineral of the Zeolite family, often occurring in amygdaloid, in foliated masses, and also in monoclinic crystals with pearly luster on the cleavage face. It is a hydrous silicate of alumina and lime.
NATROLITE n.
A zeolite occuring in groups of glassy acicular crystals, and in masses which often have a radiated structure. It is a hydrous silicate of alumina and soda.

Natrolite; -- called also needle zeolite.

Having the form of a broom or besom. "Zeolite, stelliform or scopiform." Kirwan.
STILBITE n.
A common mineral of the zeolite family, a hydrous silicate of alumina and lime, usually occurring in sheaflike aggregations of crystals, also in radiated masses. It is of a white or yellowish color, with pearly luster on the cleavage surface. Called also desmine.
ZEOLITIC a.
Of or pertaining to a zeolite; consisting of, or resembling, a zeolite.
ZEOLITIFORM a.
Having the form of a zeolite.
