A turning point; the principal or highest point; top; summit; crown; apex. Specifically: --(a) (Anat.)
ANGLE n.
The difference of direction of two lines. In the lines meet, the point of meeting is the vertex of the angle.
ANGULAR a.
drawn to the body. -- Angular point, the point at which the sides of the angle meet; the vertex. -- Angular velocity, the ratio of anuglar motion to the time employed in describing.
AXIS n.
the axis of a cylinder, i. e., the axis of a cone, that is, the straight line joining the vertex and the center of the base; the axis of a circle, any straight line passing through the center.
