Provided with trunnions; as, the trunnioned cylinder of an oscillating steam engine.
CAPSQUARE n.
A metal covering plate which passes over the trunnions of a cannon, and holds it in place.
CARRONADE n.
smashing in, rather than piercing, the object aimed at, as the side of a ship. It has no trunnions, but is supported on its carriage by a bolt passing through a loop on its under side.
CHASE n.
The part of a cannon from the reënforce or the trunnions to the swell of the muzzle. See Cannon.
DISPART n.
A piece of metal placed on the muzzle, or near the trunnions, on the top of a piece of ordnance, to make the line of sight parallel to the axis of the bore; -- called also dispart sight, and muzzle sight.

tes; vibrating; swinging. Oscillating engine, a steam engine whose cylinder oscillates on trunnions instead of being permanently fixed in a perpendicular or other direction. Weale.

The excess of weight of that part of a canon behind the trunnions over that in front of them.
QUARTERHUNG a.
Having trunnions the axes of which lie below the bore; -- said of a cannon.
RIMBASE n.
A short cylinder connecting a trunnion with the body of a cannon. See Illust. of Cannon.
SIGHT n.
A small piece of metal, fixed or movable, on the breech, muzzle, center, or trunnion of a gun, or on the breech and the muzzle of a rifle, pistol, etc., by means of which the eye is guided in aiming. Farrow.

The part of a mortar extending from the chamber to the trunnions.
