THECA n. 4 definitions
A sheath; a case; as, the theca, or cell, of an anther; the theca, or spore case, of a fungus; the theca of the spinal cord.
THECAL a.
Of or pertaining to a theca; as, a thecal abscess.
THECAPHORE n. 2 definitions
A surface or organ bearing a theca, or covered with thecæ.
THECASPOROUS a.
Having the spores in thecæ, or cases.

The tissue which fills the interspaces between the costæ of many madreporarian corals, usually consisting of small transverse or oblique septa.

A building or room devoted to works of sculpture.
GNATHOTHECA n.
The horney covering of the lower mandible of a bird.
GONOTHECA n.
A capsule developed on certain hydroids (Thecaphora), inclosing the blastostyle upon which the medusoid buds or gonophores are developed; -- called also gonangium, and teleophore. See Hydroidea, and Illust. of Campanularian.
HIEROTHECA n.
A receptacle for sacred objects.
