TERNARY a. 3 definitions
Proceeding by threes; consisting of three; as, the ternary number was anciently esteemed a symbol of perfection, and held in great veneration.
QUATERNARY a. 4 definitions
Later than, or subsequent to, the Tertiary; Post-tertiary; as, the Quaternary age, or Age of man.
CENOZOIC a.
recent division of geological time, including the tertiary, or Age of mammals, and the Quaternary, or Age of man. [Written also cænozoic, cainozoic, kainozoic.] See Geology.
