TABLET n. 6 definitions
A flattish cake or piece; as, tablets of arsenic were formerly worn as a preservative against the plague.
CONTRACT TABLET n.
A clay tablet on which was inscribed a contract, for safe keeping. Such tablets were inclosed in an outer case (often called the envelope), on which was inscribed a duplicate of the inscription on the inclosed tablet.
ABACUS n.
A tablet, panel, or compartment in ornamented or mosaic work.
ALBUM n.
A white tablet on which anything was inscribed, as a list of names, etc.
BAND n.
A continuous tablet, stripe, or series of ornaments, as of carved foliage, of color, or of brickwork, etc.
BEAR v.
To sustain; to have on (written or inscribed, or as a mark), as, the tablet bears this inscription.
CARTOUCH n.
