SCREW n. 17 definitions
of the perforation adapted to it, the former being distinguished as the external, or male screw, or, more usually the screw; the latter as the internal, or female screw, or, more usually, the nut.
SCREW-CUTTING a.
Adapted for forming a screw by cutting; as, a screw-cutting lathe.
SCREW-DRIVER n.
A tool for turning screws so as to drive them into their place. It has a thin end which enters the nick in the head of the screw.
