PEPTONE n. 2 definitions
portions of the food are transformed by the action of the gastric and pancreatic juices. Peptones are also formed from albuminous matter by the action of boiling water and boiling dilute acids.
AMPHOPEPTONE n.
A product of gastric digestion, a mixture of hemipeptone and antipeptone.
ANTIPEPTONE n.
A product of gastric and pancreatic digestion, differing from hemipeptone in not being decomposed by the continued action of pancreatic juice.
DYSPEPTONE n.
An insoluble albuminous body formed from casein and other proteid substances by the action of gastric juice. Meissner.
HEMIPEPTONE n.
A product of the gastric and pancreatic digestion of albuminous matter.
METAPEPTONE n.

tinous substance containing nitrogen, found in milk and other animal fluids. It resembles peptone, and is variously regarded as a coagulating or emulsifying agent.
HEMIALBUMOSE n.
and by the action of boiling dilute acids on albumin. It is readily convertible into hemipeptone. Called also hemialbumin.
HEMIPROTEIN n.
some time with dilute sulphuric acid. It is apparently identical with antialbumid and dyspeptone.
