PARRY v. 4 definitions
To ward off; to stop, or to turn aside; as, to parry a thrust, a blow, or anything that means or threatens harm. Locke. Vice parries wide The undreaded volley with a sword of straw. Cowper.
SPARRY a.
sisting of spar; abounding with spar; having a confused crystalline structure; spathose. Sparry iron (Min.), siderite. See Siderite (a). -- Sparry limestone (Min.), a coarsely crystalline marble.

A position in thrusting or parrying, with the inside of the hand turned upward and the point of the weapon toward the adversary's right breast.
