CRYSTALLIZATION n. 2 definitions
The body formed by crystallizing; as, silver on precipitation forms arborescent crystallizations.
RECRYSTALLIZATION n.
The process or recrystallizing.
ALBITE n.
A mineral of the feldspar family, triclinic in crystallization, and in composition a silicate of alumina and soda. It is a common constituent of granite and of various igneous rocks. See Feldspar.
ALCOHOLATE n.
nd of a salt with alcohol, in which the latter plays a part analogous to that of water of crystallization. Graham.
ALUM n.
element (esp. an alkali metal) or of aluminium. It has twenty-four molecules of water of crystallization.
AMORPHISM n.
A state of being amorphous; esp. a state of being without crystallization even in the minutest particles, as in glass, opal, etc.
AMORPHOUS a.
Without crystallization in the ultimate texture of a solid substance; uncrystallized.
ARBORESCENCE n.
The state of being arborescent; the resemblance to a tree in minerals, or crystallizations, or groups of crystals in that form; as, the arborescence produced by precipitating silver.

Resembling a tree; becoming woody in stalk; dendritic; having crystallizations disposed like the branches and twigs of a tree. "Arborescent hollyhocks." Evelyn.
CALCITE n.
Calcium carbonate, or carbonate of lime. It is rhombohedral in its crystallization, and thus distinguished from aragonite. It includes common limestone, chalk, and marble. Called also calc-spar and calcareous spar.
CHESSY COPPER n.
The mineral azurite, found in fine crystallization at Chessy, near Lyons; called also chessylite.
CHILL v.
To produce, by sudden cooling, a change of crystallization at or near the surface of, so as to increase the hardness; said of cast iron.
CLINODIAGONAL n.
al axis in a monoclinic crystal which makes an oblique angle witch the vertical axis. See Crystallization. -- a.
CREAM n.
of crystals which forms on the surface of the liquor in the process of purification by recrystallization. It is a white crystalline substance, with a gritty acid taste, and is used very largely as an ingredient of baking powders; -- called also potassium bitartrate, acid potassium tartrate, etc.
CRYOHYDRATE n.
A substance, as salt, ammonium chloride, etc., which crystallizes with water of crystallization only at low temperatures, or below the freezing point of water. F. Guthrie.

Formed by crystallization; like crystal in texture. Their crystalline structure. Whewell.
CRYSTALLITE n.
lline outline and not referable to any mineral species, but marking the first step in the crystallization process. According to their form crystallites are called trichites, belonites, globulites, etc.

The doctrine or science of crystallization, teaching the system of forms among crystals, their structure, and their methods of formation.

Isometric or monometric; as, cubic cleavage. See Crystallization.
