small mass of dough baked; especially, a thin loaf from unleavened dough; as, an oatmeal cake; johnnycake.
BRIDECAKE n.
Rich or highly ornamented cake, to be distributed to the guests at a wedding, or sent to friends after the wedding.
CLAPBREAD; CLAPCAKE n.
Oatmeal cake or bread clapped or beaten till it is thin. [Obs.] Halliwell.

A kind of cake filled with custard made of cream, eggs, etc.
