A light repast between meals; a lunch. [Obs.] Beau. & Fl.
BEVERAGE n. 3 definitions
ly applied to drink artificially prepared and of an agreeable flavor; as, an intoxicating beverage. He knew no beverage but the flowing stream. Thomson.
ABSTINENCE n.
nimal or sensual propensities. Specifically, the practice of abstaining from intoxicating beverages, -- called also total abstinence. The abstinence from a present pleasure that offers itself is a pain, nay, oftentimes, a very great one. Locke.
ALEBERRY n.

The expressed juice of apples. It is used as a beverage, for making vinegar, and for other purposes.
COBBLER n.
A beverage. See Sherry cobbler, under Sherry. Cobbler fish (Zoöl.), a marine fish (Blepharis crinitus) of the Atlantic. The name alludes to its threadlike fin rays.
COCKTAIL n.
A beverage made of brandy, whisky, or gin, iced, flavored, and sweetened. [U. S.]
COCOA n.
A preparation made from the seeds of the chocolate tree, and used in making, a beverage; also the beverage made from cocoa or cocoa shells. Cocoa shells, the husks which separate from the cacao seeds in preparing them for use.
COFFEE n.
The beverage made from the roasted and ground berry. They have in Turkey a drink called coffee . . . This drink comforteth the brain and heart, and helpeth digestion. Bacon.
