ASCIDIAN n.
One of the Ascidioidea, or in a more general sense, one of the Tunicata. Also as an adj.
ASCIDIARIUM n.
The structure which unites together the ascidiozooids in a compound ascidian.
ASCIDIFORM a.
Shaped like an ascidian.
ASCIDIOZOOID n.
One of the individual members of a compound ascidian. See Ascidioidea.
ASCIDIUM n.
A genus of simple ascidians, which formerly included most of the known species. It is sometimes used as a name for the Ascidioidea, or for all the Tunicata.
ATRIUM n.
A cavity in ascidians into which the intestine and generative ducts open, and which also receives the water from the gills. See Ascidioidea.

A fold of the endoderm, which projects into the blood cavity of ascidians. See Tunicata.

Any compound ascidian of the genus Pyrosoma. The pyrosomes form large hollow cylinders, sometimes two or three feet long, which swim at the surface of the sea and are very phosphorescent.
SEA PEACH n.
A beautiful American ascidian (Cynthia, or Halocynthia, pyriformis) having the size, form, velvety surface, and color of a ripe peach.
SEA PEAR n.
A pedunculated ascidian of the genus Boltonia.
SEA PORK n.
An American compound ascidian (Amoræcium stellatum) which forms large whitish masses resembling salt pork.
