ARTHROPODA n.
A large division of Articulata, embracing all those that have jointed legs. It includes Insects, Arachnida, Pychnogonida, and Crustacea. -- Ar*throp"o*dal, a.
ANARTHROPODA n.
ivisions of Articulata in which there are no jointed legs, as the annelids; -- opposed to Arthropoda.
ABDOMEN n.
The posterior section of the body, behind the thorax, in insects, crustaceans, and other Arthropoda.
ANARTHROPODOUS a.
Having no jointed legs; pertaining to Anarthropoda.
ANNULOSA n.
the Invertebrata, nearly equivalent to the Articulata. It includes the Arthoropoda and Anarthropoda. By some zoölogists it is applied to the former only.

One of the Arthropoda.
GNATHITE n.
Any one of the mouth appendages of the Arthropoda. They are known as mandibles, maxillæ, and maxillipeds.

One of the classes of Arthropoda, including those that have one pair of antennæ, three pairs of mouth organs, and breathe air by means of tracheæ, opening by spiracles along the sides of the body. of ciliated disks. By some zoölogists it is thought to be like the ancestral form of the Arthropoda.
MALACOPODA n.
A class of air-breathing Arthropoda; -- called also Protracheata, and Onychophora.
MEROSTOMATA n.
A class of Arthropoda, allied to the Crustacea. It includes the trilobites, Eurypteroidea, and Limuloidea. All are extinct except the horseshoe crabs of the last group. See Limulus.
