ARTHROPOD n.
One of the Arthropoda.
ARTHROPODA n.
A large division of Articulata, embracing all those that have jointed legs. It includes Insects, Arachnida, Pychnogonida, and Crustacea. -- Ar*throp"o*dal, a.
ANARTHROPODA n.
ivisions of Articulata in which there are no jointed legs, as the annelids; -- opposed to Arthropoda.
ANARTHROPODOUS a.
Having no jointed legs; pertaining to Anarthropoda.

One of the thoracic legs of Arthropods.
BAENOSOME n.
The thorax of Arthropods. Packard.
CEPHALOMERE n.
One of the somites (arthromeres) which make up the head of arthropods. Packard.
CEPHALOSOME n.
The anterior region or head of insects and other arthropods. Packard.
CIRCUMESOPHAGAL a.
Surrounding the esophagus; -- in Zool. said of the nerve commissures and ganglia of arthropods and mollusks.

One of the classes of the arthropods, including lobsters and crabs; -- so called from the crustlike shell with which they are covered.
GNATHITE n.
Any one of the mouth appendages of the Arthropoda. They are known as mandibles, maxillæ, and maxillipeds.
