STOP n.
A point or mark in writing or printing intended to distinguish the sentences, parts of a sentence, or clauses; a mark of punctuation. See Punctuation.
STROKE n.
A mark or dash in writing or printing; a line; the touch of a pen or pencil; as, an up stroke; a firm stroke. O, lasting as those colors may they shine, Free as thy stroke, yet faultless as thy line. Pope.
SUPERROYAL a.
Larger than royal; -- said of a particular size of printing and writing paper. See the Note under Paper, n.
SUPERVISE v.
d; to inspect with authority; as, to supervise the construction of a steam engine, or the printing of a book.
SURFACE n.
flat surface, used as a standard of flatness by which to test other surfaces. -- Surface printing, printing from a surface in relief, as from type, in distinction from plate printing, in which the ink is contained in engraved lines.

In writing and printing, a part of a word, separated from the rest, and capable of being pronounced by a single impulse of the voice. It may or may not correspond to a syllable in the spoken language. Withouten vice [i. e. mistake] of syllable or letter. Chaucer.

Designating, or pert. to, a photomechanical process employing printings in three colors, as red, yellow, and blue.
