MYOCHROME n.
A colored albuminous substance in the serum from red-colored muscles. It is identical with hemoglobin.
MYOEPITHELIAL a.
Having the characteristics of both muscle and epithelium; as, the myoepithelial cells of the hydra.
MYOGRAM n.
See Muscle curve, under Muscle.
MYOGRAPHY n.
The description of muscles, including the study of muscular contraction by the aid of registering apparatus, as by some form of myograph; myology.
MYOHAEMATIN n.
A red-colored respiratory pigment found associated with hemoglobin in the muscle tissue of a large number of animals, both vertebrate and invertebrate.
MYOLIN n.
The essential material of muscle fibers.
MYOLOGY n.
That part of anatomy which treats of muscles.
MYOPATHIA n.
Any affection of the muscles or muscular system.
MYOSIN n.
An albuminous body present in dead muscle, being formed in the process of coagulation which takes place in rigor mortis; the clot formed in the coagulation of muscle plasma. See Muscle plasma, under Plasma.

Inflammation of the muscles.
MYOTOME n.
A muscular segment; one of the zones into which the muscles of the trunk, especially in fishes, are divided; a myocomma.
MYOTOMY n.
The dissection, or that part of anatomy which treats of the dissection, of muscles.
MYTILOTOXINE n.
poisonous base (leucomaine) found in the common mussel. It either causes paralysis of the muscles, or gives rise to convulsions, including death by an accumulation of carbonic acid in the blood.
NERVIMOTION n.
The movement caused in the sensory organs by external agents and transmitted to the muscles by the nerves. Dunglison.

Of or pertaining to both nerves and muscles; of the nature of nerves and muscles; as, nervomuscular energy.
NONSTRIATED a.
Without striations; unstriped; as, nonstriated muscle fibers.

al structure found in the mouth of most mollusks, except bivalves. It consists of several muscles and a cartilage which supports a chitinous radula, or lingual ribbon, armed with teeth. Also applied to the radula alone. See Radula.

Having few or imperfect syringeal muscles; -- said of some passerine birds (Oligomyodi).
