BILIN n.
action of alcohol and ether. It is composed of a mixture of the sodium salts of the bile acids.
BINARSENIATE n.
A salt having two equivalents of arsenic acid to one of the base. Graham.
BINOXALATE n.
A salt having two equivalents of oxalic acid to one of the base; an acid oxalate.
BISILICATE n.
A salt of metasilicic acid; -- so called because the ratio of the oxygen of the silica to the oxygen of the base is as two to one. The bisilicates include many of the most common and important minerals.
BISULPHATE n.
A sulphate in which but half the hydrogen of the acid is replaced by a positive element or radical, thus making the proportion of the acid to the positive or basic portion twice what it is in the normal sulphates; an acid sulphate.
BISULPHITE n.
A salt of sulphurous acid in which the base replaces but half the hydrogen of the acid; an acid sulphite.
BITARTRATE n.
A salt of tartaric acid in which the base replaces but half the acid hydrogen; an acid tartrate, as cream of tartar.

substance, C2O2N3H5, formed by heating urea. It is intermediate between urea and cyanuric acid.

Pertaining to, or obtained from, the Boletus. Boletic acid, an acid obtained from the Boletus fomentarius, variety pseudo-igniarius. Same as Fumaric acid.

Pertaining to, or obtained from, the silkworm; as, bombic acid.
BORACIC a.
Pertaining to, or produced from, borax; containing boron; boric; as, boracic acid.
BORATE n.
A salt formed by the combination of boric acid with a base or positive radical.
BORAX n.
n, and as a soap. It occurs native in certain mineral springs, and is made from the boric acid of hot springs in Tuscany. Of, pertaining to, or containing, boron. Boric acid, a white crystalline substance B(OH)3, easily obtained from its salts, and occurring in solution in the hot lagoons of Tuscany.

A compound of boric acid and glycerin, used as an antiseptic.
BOROSILICATE n.
A double salt of boric and silicic acids, as in the natural minerals tourmaline, datolite, etc.
