The membrane of fibrous connective tissue which closely invests cartilage, except where covering articular surfaces.

The second stomach of ruminants, in which folds of the mucous membrane form hexagonal cells; -- also called the honeycomb stomach.
RETINA n.
The delicate membrane by which the back part of the globe of the eye is lined, and in which the fibers of the optic nerve terminate. See Eye.
