DREAM v.
ction; to spend in idle vagaries; as, to dream away an hour; to dream through life. " Why does Antony dream out his hours" Dryden.
DRUM v.
To go about, as a drummer does, to gather recruits, to draw or secure partisans, customers, etc,; -- with for.
DUMMY n.
A sham package in a shop, or one which does not contain what its exterior indicates.
EARWITNESS n.
A witness by means of his ears; one who is within hearing and does hear; a hearer. Fuller.
EDGE n.
e edge of an ax, knife, sword, or scythe. Hence, figuratively, that which cuts as an edge does, or wounds deeply, etc. He which hath the sharp sword with two edges. Rev. ii. 12. Slander, Whose edge is sharper than the sword. Shak.
EDIFY v.
To instruct and improve, especially in moral and religious knowledge; to teach. It does not appear probable that our dispute [about miracles] would either edify or enlighten the public. Gibbon.

To guard as a churchwarden does. [Obs.] J. Gregory.

red; as in assignee, donee, alienee, grantee, etc. It is correlative to -or, the agent or doer.

ENTRAIN v.
To draw along as a current does; as, water entrained by steam.
ENVY v.
om the sight of another's excellence or good fortune and a longing to possess it. A woman does not envy a man for his fighting courage, nor a man a woman for her beauty. Collier. Whoever envies another confesses his superiority. Rambler.
EPIDEMIC n.
Anything which takes possession of the minds of people as an epidemic does of their bodies; as, an epidemic of terror.
EPIDEMIC; EPIDEMICAL a.
Spreading widely, or generally prevailing; affecting great numbers, as an epidemic does; as, epidemic rage; an epidemic evil. It was the epidemical sin of the nation. Bp. Burnet.
EPIPHYTE n.
An air plant which grows on other plants, but does not derive its nourishment from them. See Air plant.
EPODE n.
ochus, in which a longer verse is followed by a shorter one; as, the Epodes of Horace. It does not include the elegiac distich.
EQUALITY n.
thus, a = x signifies that a contains the same number and kind of units of measure that x does. Confessional equality. See under Confessional.

EXECUTOR n.
One who executes or performs; a doer; as, an executor of baseness. Shak.
EXPLOIT n.
an illegitimate profit from; to speculate on; to put upon. [Recent] In no sense whatever does a man who accumulates a fortune by legitimate industry exploit his employés or make his capital "out of" anybody else. W. G. Sumner.
FACIENT n.
One who does anything, good or bad; a doer; an agent. [Obs.] Br. Hacket.
