NARRAGANSETTS n.
A tribe of Indians who formerly inhabited the shores of Narragansett Bay.
OLEANDER n.
ast Indies, but the red variety has become common in the south of Europe. Called also rosebay, rose laurel, and South-sea rose.
ORIEL n.
A bay window. See Bay window. The beams that thro' the oriel shine Make prisms in every carven glass. Tennyson.
OUTGOING n.

e (Æpyceros melampus). The male has long lyrate and annulated horns. The general color is bay, with a black crescent on the croup. Called also roodebok.

A warding off of a thrust or blow, as in sword and bayonet exercises or in boxing; hence, figuratively, a defensive movement in debate or other intellectual encounter.
PATAMAR n.
A vessel resembling a grab, used in the coasting trade of Bombay and Ceylon. [Written also pattemar.]

g of a long wooden shaft or staff, with a pointed steel head. It is now superseded by the bayonet.
PORPOISE n.
A true dolphin (Delphinus); -- often so called by sailors. Skunk porpoise, or Bay porpoise (Zoöl.), a North American porpoise (Lagenorhynchus acutus), larger than the common species, and with broad stripes of white and yellow on the sides. See Illustration in Appendix.

A place where ships may ride secure from storms; a sheltered inlet, bay, or cove; a harbor; a haven. Used also figuratively.
PRESIDENCY n.
One of the three great divisions of British India, the Bengal, Madras, and Bombay Presidencies, each of which had a council of which its governor was president.
