DIPHYODONT a. 2 definitions
successive sets of teeth (deciduous and permanent), one succeeding the other; as, a diphyodont mammal; diphyodont dentition; -- opposed to monophyodont. -- n.
DIPROTODON n.
An extinct Quaternary marsupial from Australia, about as large as the hippopotamus; -- so named because of its two large front teeth. See Illustration in Appendix.

One of a family (glyptodontidæ) of extinct South American edentates, of which Glyptodon is the type. About twenty species are known.

genus Puffinus; esp., P. major, the greater shearwarter, and P. Stricklandi, the black hagdon or sooty shearwater; -- called also hagdown, haglin, and hag. See Shearwater.

A name given to the old Parthenon at Athens, because measuring 100 Greek feet, probably in the width across the stylobate.
