BOWER n.
A muscle that bends a limb, esp. the arm. [Obs.] His rawbone arms, whose mighty brawned bowers Were wont to rive steel plates and helmets hew. Spenser. Best bower, Small bower. See the Note under Anchor.
BRACE n.
or rod, for producing or maintaining tension, as a cord on the side of a drum. The little bones of the ear drum do in straining and relaxing it as the braces of the war drum do in that. Derham.
BRAINPAN n.
The bones which inclose the brain; the skull; the cranium.
BRASSIERE n.
A form of woman's underwaist stiffened with whalebones, or the like, and worn to support the breasts.

A muscle; flesh. [Obs.] Formed well of brawns and of bones. Chaucer.

ifferent minerals, etc., united by a cement, and commonly presenting a variety of colors. Bone breccia, a breccia containing bones, usually fragmentary. -- Coin breccia, a breccia containing coins.

mposed of bristles, or other like material, set in a suitable back or handle, as of wood, bone, or ivory, and used for various purposes, as in removing dust from clothes, laying on colors, etc. Brushes have different shapes and names according to their use; as, clothes brush, paint brush, tooth brush, etc.…
BUFONITE n.
An old name for a fossil consisting of the petrified teeth and palatal bones of fishes belonging to the family of Pycnodonts (thick teeth), whose remains occur in the oölite and chalk formations; toadstone; -- so named from a notion that it was originally formed in the head of a toad.
BUSK n.
A thin, elastic strip of metal, whalebone, wood, or other material, worn in the front of a corset. Her long slit sleeves, stiff busk, puff verdingall, Is all that makes her thus angelical. Marston.
BUTTONMOLD n.
A disk of bone, wood, or other material, which is made into a button by covering it with cloth. [Written also buttonmould.] Fossil buttonmolds, joints of encrinites. See Encrinite.
CALCANEUM n.
One of the bones of the tarsus which in man, forms the great bone of the heel; -- called also fibulare.
CALCIFICATION n.
calcareous substance by the deposition of lime salt; -- normally, as in the formation of bone and teeth; abnormally, as in calcareous degeneration of tissue.
CALCINE v.
arbonic acid from limestone, and thus (usually) to produce disintegration; as to, calcine bones.
CALLUS n.
The material of repair in fractures of bone; a substance exuded at the site of fracture, which is at first soft or cartilaginous in consistence, but is ultimately converted into true bone and unites the fragments into a single piece.
CALVARIA n.
The bones of the cranium; more especially, the bones of the domelike upper portion.
CANCELLATED a.
Open or spongy, as some porous bones.
CANCELLI n.
interlacing osseous plates constituting the elastic porous tissue of certain parts of the bones, esp. in their articular extremities.
CANCELLOUS a.
stracture; made up of cancelli; cancellated; as, the cancellous texture of parts of many bones.
CAP v.
p or end of; to place a cap upon the proper part of; as, to cap a post; to cap a gun. The bones next the joint are capped with a smooth cartilaginous substance. Derham.
