ONCOTOMY n.
The opening of an abscess, or the removal of a tumor, with a cutting instrument. [Written also onkotomy.] Dunglison.
OSTEOMA n.
A tumor composed mainly of bone; a tumor of a bone.
OSTEOSARCOMA n.
A tumor having the structure of a sacroma in which there is a deposit of bone; sarcoma connected with bone.
PAPILLOMA n.
A tumor formed by hypertrophy of the papillæ of the skin or mucous membrane, as a corn or a wart. Quain.
PHANTOM n.
ntom of delight. Wordsworth. Phantom ship. See Flying Dutchman, under Flying. -- Phantom tumor (Med.), a swelling, especially of the abdomen, due to muscular spasm, accumulation of flatus, etc., simulating an actual tumor in appearance, but disappearing upon the administration of an anæsthetic.
PHARYNGOTOMY n.
The operation of making an incision into the pharynx, to remove a tumor or anything that obstructs the passage.

The small, troublesome tumors or swellings about the anus and lower part of the rectum which are technically called hemorrhoids. See Hemorrhoids.

A tumor, usually with a narrow base, somewhat resembling a pear, -- found in the nose, uterus, etc., and produced by hypertrophy of some portion of the mucous membrane.

A breaking up, disappearance; or termination, as of a fever, a tumor, or the like.

To dispere or scatter; to discuss, as an inflammation or a tumor.

Metastasis of an eruption or a tumor from the surface to the interior of the body.
