ANNELIDA n.
A division of the Articulata, having the body formed of numerous rings or annular segments, and without jointed legs. The principal subdivisions are the Chætopoda, including the Oligochæta or earthworms and Polychæta or marine worms; and the Hirudinea or leeches. See Chætopoda.
ANNULOIDA n.
A division of the Articulata, including the annelids and allied groups; sometimes made to include also the helminths and echinoderms. [Written also Annuloidea.]
ANNULOSA n.
A division of the Invertebrata, nearly equivalent to the Articulata. It includes the Arthoropoda and Anarthropoda. By some zoölogists it is applied to the former only.
ANORTHOPIA n.
Distorted vision, in which straight lines appear bent.
ANSERIFORMES n.
A division of birds including the geese, ducks, and closely allied forms.
ANTECHOIR n.
Where a choir is divided, as in some Spanish churches, that division of it which is the farther from the sanctuary.

anthropology which treats of the actual distribution of the human race in its different divisions, as distinguished by physical character, language, institutions, and customs, in contradistinction to ethnography, which treats historically of the origin and filiation of races and nations. P. Cyc.

Previous view or impression of what is to happen; instinctive prevision; foretaste; antepast; as, the anticipation of the joys of heaven. The happy anticipation of renewed existence in company with the spirits of the just. Thodey.

APLACOPHORA n.
A division of Amphineura in which the body is naked or covered with slender spines or setæ, but is without shelly plates.
