CANCER n.
A northern constellation between Gemini and Leo.
CANIS n.
he family Canidæ, including the dogs and wolves. Canis major Etym: [L., larger dog], a constellation to the southeast of Orion, containing Sirius or the Dog Star. -- Canis minor Etym: [L., smaller dog], a constellation to the east of Orion, containing Procyon, a star of the first magnitude.

A constellation in the southern heavens between Hydra and the Southern Cross.
CEPHEUS n.

CHICKEN n.
A young person; a child; esp. a young woman; a maiden. "Stella is no chicken." Swift. Chicken cholera, a contagious disease of fowls; - - so called because first studied during the prevalence of a cholera epidemic in France. It has no resemblance to true cholera.
CHICKWEED n.
The name of several caryophyllaseous weeds, especially Stellaria media, the seeds and flower buds of which are a favorite food of small birds.
COMA n.
a tuft of long hairs on certain seeds. Coma Berenices ( Etym: [L.] (Astron.), a small constellation north of Virgo; -- called also Berenice's Hair.
COSMOSPHERE n.
e fixed stars. It consist of a hollow glass globe, on which are depicted the stars and constellations, and within which is a terrestrial globe.
COUNTERGLOW n.
the ecliptic and opposite the sun, best seen during September and October, when in the constellations Sagittarius and Pisces. Its cause is not yet understood. Called also Gegenschein.
CRAB n.
The zodiacal constellation Cancer.
CRATER n.
A constellation of the southen hemisphere; -- called also the Cup.
CYGNUS n.
A constellation of the northern hemisphere east of, or following, Lyra; the Swan.
