BLOTTING PAPER n.
paper, used to absorb superfluous ink from freshly written manuscript, and thus prevent blots.
BRANCH PILOT n.
A pilot who has a branch or commission, as from Trinity House, England, for special navigation.
BREECHCLOTH n.
A cloth worn around the breech.
BROADCLOTH n.
A fine smooth-faced woolen cloth for men's garments, usually of double width (i.e., a yard and a half); -- so called in distinction from woolens three quarters of a yard wide.
CACHALOT n.
The sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). It has in the top of its head a large cavity, containing an oily fluid, which, after death, concretes into a whitish crystalline substance called spermaceti. See Sperm whale.
