HESPERIDIN n.
A glucoside found in ripe and unripe fruit (as the orange), and extracted as a white crystalline substance.
HESSIAN a.
idge (Cecidomyia destructor). Its larvæ live between the base of the lower leaves and the stalk of wheat, and are very destructive to young wheat; -- so called from the erroneous idea that it was brought into America by the Hessian troops, during the Revolution.
HEULANDITE n.
lite family, often occurring in amygdaloid, in foliated masses, and also in monoclinic crystals with pearly luster on the cleavage face. It is a hydrous silicate of alumina and lime.
