ETHENYL n.
A univalent hydrocarbon radical of the ethylene series, CH2:CH; - - called also vinyl. See Vinyl.
ETHERIN n.
A white, crystalline hydrocarbon, regarded as a polymeric variety of ethylene, obtained in heavy oil of wine, the residue left after making ether; -- formerly called also concrete oil of wine.
ETHEROL n.
An oily hydrocarbon regarded as a polymeric variety of ethylene, produced with etherin.

ETHYLIDENE n.
An unsymmetrical, divalent, hydrocarbon radical, C2H4 metameric with ethylene but written thus, CH3.CH to distinguish it from the symmetrical ethylene, CH2.CH2. Its compounds are derived from aldehyde. Formerly called also ethidene.
