FLOATER n.
One who floats or swims.
FLOATY a.
Swimming on the surface; buoyant; light. Sir W. Raleigh.
FROG n.
(Zoöl.) An amphibious animal of the genus Rana and related genera, of many species. Frogs swim rapidly, and take long leaps on land. Many of the species utter loud notes in the springtime.
GLAUCUS n.
A genus of nudibranchiate mollusks, found in the warmer latitudes, swimming in the open sea. These mollusks are beautifully colored with blue and silvery white.
GREBE n.
One of several swimming birds or divers, of the genus Colymbus (formerly Podiceps), aud allied genera, found in the northern parts of America, Europe, and Asia. They have strong, sharp bills, and lobate toes.

rds, allied to the auks. They have short legs, placed far back, and are expert divers and swimmers.

A group of transparent, free-swimming Annelida, having setae only in the cephalic appendages.

A free-swimming, dimorphic, sexual form of certain species of Nereis.

allied genera. These snakes are venomous, live upon fishes, and have a flattened tail for swimming.
JERK n.
A sudden start or spring. Lobsters . . . swim backwards by jerks or springs. Grew.
LADY n.

LERNAEACEA n.
umber of remarkable forms, mostly parasitic on fishes. The young, however, are active and swim freely. See Illustration in Appendix.

LOON n.
birds of the genus Urinator (formerly Colymbus), noted for their expertness in diving and swimming under water. The common loon, or great northern diver (Urinator imber, or Colymbus torquatus), and the red-throated loon or diver (U. septentrionalis), are the best known species. See Diver.

A genus of free-swimming macruran Crustacea, having a slender body and long appendages.
MEDUSA n.
Any free swimming acaleph; a jellyfish.
