The application of payment of money by a debtor to his creditor, to one of several debts which are due from the former to the latter. Chitty.

One of several species of poplar bearing this name, especially the Populus tremula, so called from the trembling of its leaves, which move with the slightest impulse of the air.

neral name for a plant of the genus Asphodelus. The asphodels are hardy perennial plants, several species of which are cultivated for the beauty of their flowers.

BAGWORM n.
One of several lepidopterous insects which construct, in the larval state, a baglike case which they carry about for protection. One species (Platoeceticus Gloveri) feeds on the orange tree. See Basket worm.
BALD EAGLE n.
The white-headed eagle (Haliæetus leucocephalus) of America. The young, until several years old, lack the white feathers on the head.
