GALANGA; GALANGAL n.
gent aromatic rhizome or tuber of certain East Indian or Chinese species of Alpinia (A. Galanga and A. officinarum) and of the Kæmpferia Galanga), -- all of the Ginger family.
IHLANG-IHLANG n.
om the volatile oil of the flowers of Canada odorata, an East Indian tree. [Also written ylang-ylang.]

A division of Arachnoidea, including the daddy longlegs or harvestman (Phalangium) and many similar kinds. They have long, slender, many-jointed legs; usually a rounded, segmented abdomen; and chelate jaws. They breathe by tracheæ. Called also Phalangides, Phalangidea, Phalangiida, and Opilionea.
