EXALBUMINOUS a.
Having no albumen about the embryo; -- said of certain seeds.
HEMIALBUMIN n.
Same as Hemialbumose.
HEMIALBUMOSE n.
An albuminous substance formed in gastric digestion, and by the action of boiling dilute acids on albumin. It is readily convertible into hemipeptone. Called also hemialbumin.
LACTOABUMIN n.
The albumin present on milk, apparently identical with ordinary serum albumin. It is distinct from the casein of milk.
METALBUMIN n.
A form of albumin found in ascitic and certain serous fluids. It is sometimes regarded as a mixture of albumin and mucin.
OBUMBRANT a.
Overhanging; as, obumbrant feathers.
OBUMBRATE v.
To shade; to darken; to cloud. [R.] Howell.
OBUMBRATION n.
Act of darkening or obscuring. [R.] Sir T. More.

The albumin from white of eggs; egg albumin; -- in distinction from serum albumin. See Albumin.

A proteidlike body found in the fluid from ovarian cysts and elsewhere. It is generally associated with a substance related to, if not identical with, glycogen.

The technical name of lead. See Lead.

Serum albumin.
SUBUMBONAL a.
Beneath or forward of the umbos of a bivalve shell.
SUBUMBRELLA n.
The integument of the under surface of the bell, or disk-shaped body, of a jellyfish.
TOXALBUMIN n.
Any of a class of toxic substances of protein nature; a toxin.
ALBUGINEOUS a.
Of the nature of, or resembling, the white of the eye, or of an egg; albuminous; -- a term applied to textures, humors, etc., which are perfectly white.
ALEURONE n.
An albuminoid substance which occurs in minute grains ("protein granules") in maturing seeds and tubers; -- supposed to be a modification of protoplasm.
AMYLOID; AMYLOIDAL a.
ed.), a diseased condition of various organs of the body, produced by the deposit of an albuminous substance, giving a blue color with iodine and sulphuric acid; -- called also waxy or lardaceous degeneration.
ARCHANGEL n.
A term applied to several different species of plants (Angelica archangelica, Lamium album, etc.).
BALATA n.
A West Indian sapotaceous tree (Bumelia retusa).
