NIELLO n.
An impression on paper taken from an ancient incised decoration or metal plate.
NIPPLE n.
g two other fittings. Solder nipple, a short pipe, usually of brass, one end of which is tapered and adapted for attachment to the end of a lead pipe by soldering.

One of the excurrent apertures of sponges.
OSMOGENE n.
An apparatus, consisting of a number of cells whose sides are of parchment paper, for conducting the process of osmosis. It is used esp. in sugar refining to remove potassium salts from the molasses.

OVERLAY n.
A piece of paper pasted upon the tympan sheet to improve the impression by making it stronger at a particular place.

An opening or aperture; a recess; a recess; a chamber. [Obs.] Spenser. "The cave's inmost overture." Chapman.
PACHOMETER n.
An instrument for measuring thickness, as of the glass of a mirror, or of paper; a pachymeter.
PACKET n.
mailing letters to go by packet; or the sailing day. -- Packet note or post. See under Paper.
