APPREHENSIVE a.
Anticipative of something unfavorable' fearful of what may be coming; in dread of possible harm; in expectation of evil. Not at all apprehensive of evils as a distance. Tillotson. Reformers . . . apprehensive for their lives. Gladstone.

A spiritual corporation possessed of an appropriated benefice; also, an impropriator.

Pertaining to, or growing on, trees; as, arboreous moss. Quincy.

The appearance or figure of a tree or plant, as in minerals or fossils; a dendrite.

A fossil bird, of the Jurassic period, remarkable for having a long tapering tail of many vertebræ with feathers along each side, and jaws armed with teeth, with other reptilian characteristics.
