CURRY n.
A stew of fowl, fish, or game, cooked with curry. Curry powder (Cookery), a condiment used for making curry, formed of various materials, including strong spices, as pepper, ginger, garlic, coriander seed, etc.
CUSHION n.
cut away on four sides, leaving vertical faces. -- Cushion star (Zoöl.) a pentagonal starfish belonging to Goniaster, Astrogonium, and other allied genera; -- so called from its form.
CUSK n.
A large, edible, marine fish (Brosmius brosme), allied to the cod, common on the northern coasts of Europe and America; -- called also tusk and torsk.
CUTLASS n.
A short, heavy, curving sword, used in the navy. See Curtal ax. Cutlass fish, (Zoöl.), a peculiar, long, thin, marine fish (Trichirus lepturus) of the southern United States and West Indies; -- called also saber fish, silver eel, and, improperly, swordfish.
CUTTLE BONE n.
The shell or bone of cuttlefishes, used for various purposes, as for making polishing powder, etc.
CYCLOGANOIDEI n.
An order of ganoid fishes, having cycloid scales. The bowfin (Amia calva) is a living example.
CYCLOID a.
Of or pertaining to the Cycloidei. Cycloid scale (Zoöl.), a fish scale which is thin and shows concentric lines of growth, without serrations on the margin.
CYCLOIDEI n.
An order of fishes, formerly proposed by Agassiz, for those with thin, smooth scales, destitute of marginal spines, as the herring and salmon. The group is now regarded as artificial.
CYCLOSTOMI n.
A glass of fishes having a suckerlike mouth, without jaws, as the lamprey; the Marsipobranchii.
CYPRINODONT n.
One of the Cyprinodontidae, a family of fishes including the killifishes or minnows. See Minnow.
CYPRINOID a.
One of the Cyprinidae, or Carp family, as the goldfish, barbel, etc.
CYSTICULE n.
An appendage of the vestibular ear sac of fishes. Owen.
DACE n.
A small European cyprinoid fish (Squalius leuciscus or Leuciscus vulgaris); -- called also dare.
DAGON n.
ilistines, represented with the face and hands and upper part of a man, and the tail of a fish. W. Smith. This day a solemn feast the people hold To Dagon, their sea idol. Milton. They brought it into the house of Dagon. 1 Sam. v. 2.
DANDY n.
ndy brush, a yard whalebone brush. -- Dandy fever. See Dengue. -- Dandy line, a kind of fishing line to which are attached several crosspieces of whalebone which carry a hook at each end. -- Dandy roller, a roller sieve used in machines for making paper, to press out water from the pulp, and set the paper.…

A small fish; the dace.
DART n.
A fish; the dace. See Dace. Dart sac (Zoöl.), a sac connected with the reproductive organs of land snails, which contains a dart, or arrowlike structure.
DARTER n.
A small fresh-water etheostomoid fish. The group includes numerous genera and species, all of them American. See Etheostomoid.
DAUBING n.
In currying, a mixture of fish oil and tallow worked into leather; -- called also dubbing. Knight.
DAVIT n.
anchor to the top of the bow, without injuring the sides of the ship; -- called also the fish davit. (b) pl.
