CHINCHILLA n.
of a large squirrel, remarkable for its fine fur, which is very soft and of a pearly gray color. It is a native of Peru and Chili.

Cotton cloth, printed with flowers and other devices, in a number of different colors, and often glazed. Swift.

A colorless oily liquid, CCl3.CHO, of a pungent odor and harsh taste, obtained by the action of chlorine upon ordinary or ethyl alcohol.

CHLOROPLAST n.
usually occurring in great numbers in the cytoplasm near the cell wall, and consist of a colorless ground substance saturated with chlorophyll pigments. Under light of varying intensity they exhibit phototactic movements. In animals chloroplasts occur only in certain low forms.

ase in plants, causing the flowers to turn green or the leaves to lose their normal green color.
CHLORPICRIN n.

A colorless, amorphous, nitrogenous substance, tasteless and odorless, formed from cartilaginous tissue by long-continued action of boiling water. It is similar to gelatin, and is a large ingredient of commercial gelatin.

A fluosilicate of magnesia and iron, yellow to red in color, often occurring in granular form in a crystalline limestone.
