ANISOPLEURA n.
pods, including those having spiral shells. The two sides of the body are unequally developed.

An infectious disease of cattle and sheep. It is ascribed to the presence of a rod-shaped bacterium (Bacillus anthracis), the spores of which constitute the contagious matter. An iron block, usually with a steel face, upon which metals are hammered and shaped.
AOUDAD n.
An African sheeplike quadruped (the Ammotragus tragelaphus) having a long mane on the breast and fore legs. It is, perhaps, the chamois of the Old Testament.
APODA n.
A group of cirripeds, destitute of footlike organs.
APODYTERIUM n.
The apartment at the entrance of the baths, or in the palestra, where one stripped; a dressing room.

An enlargement at the top of a pedicel or stem, as seen in certain mosses. Gray.
