NEHILOTH n.
A term supposed to mean, perforated wind instruments of music, as pipes or flutes. Ps. v. (heading).
NELUMBO n.
A genus of great water lilies. The North American species is Nelumbo lutea, the Asiatic is the sacred lotus, N. speciosa. [Written also Nelumbium.]
NITROGLYCERIN n.
the presence of sulphuric acid. It is extremely unstable and terribly explosive. A very dilute solution is used in medicine as a neurotic under the name of glonion. [Written also nitroglycerine.]
NONRESISTANT n.
thority, even when unjustly or oppressively exercised; one who advocates or practices absolute submission; also, one who holds that violence should never be resisted by force.
OBDURACY n.

ement for sin, or as a free gift; a sacrifice; an oblation; as, sin offering. They are polluted offerings more abhorred Than spotted livers in the sacrifice. Shak.

ORIOLE n.
black. The European or golden oriole (Oriolus galbula, or O. oriolus) has a very musical flutelike note.
ORPHARION n.
An old instrument of the lute or cittern kind. [Spelt also orpheoreon.]
ORTHODOX a.
Approved; conventional. He saluted me on both cheeks in the orthodox manner. H. R. Haweis.
OSSEIN n.
nic basis of bone tissue; the residue after removal of the mineral matters from bone by dilute acid; in embryonic tissue, the substance in which the mineral salts are deposited to form bone; -- called also ostein. Chemically it is the same as collagen.
OUZEL n.
Same as Ousel. The mellow ouzel fluted in the elm. Tennyson.
OVERBLOW v.
oduces an overtone, or a note higher than the natural note; thus, the upper octaves of a flute are produced by overblowing.
PADDLEWOOD n.
The light elastic wood of the Aspidosperma excelsum, a tree of Guiana having a fluted trunk readily split into planks.
PANDORE n.
An ancient musical instrument, of the lute kind; a bandore. [Written also pandoran.]
PAPYRINE n.
Imitation parchment, made by soaking unsized paper in dilute sulphuric acid.
PAREPIDIDYMIS n.
A small body containing convoluted tubules, situated near the epididymis in man and some other animals, and supposed to be a remnant of the anterior part of the Wolffian body.
