CARBURIZE v.
gree of illuminating power on combustible gases by mingling them with a vapor of valatile hydrocarbons.
CETENE n.
An oily hydrocarbon, C16H32, of the ethylene series, obtained from spermaceti.
CHRYSENE n.
One of the higher aromatic hydrocarbons of coal tar, allied to napthalene and anthracene. It is a white crystalline substance, C18H12, of strong blue fluorescence, but generally colored yellow by impurities.
COAL TAR n.
h, etc. It is a complex mixture from which many substances have been obtained, especially hydrocarbons of the benzene or aromatic series.

ss, volatile, pungent liquid, C4H6, produced artificially, and regarded as an unsaturated hydrocarbon of the acetylene series, and analogous to crotonic acid.

A white, crystalline, aromatic hydrocarbon, C14H14, consisting of two radicals or residues of toluene.

Any one of a group of thick oily hydrocarbons, C12H26, of the paraffin series.
DOPPLERITE n.
A brownish black native hydrocarbon occurring in elastic or jellylike masses.
