BREASTPLATE n.
t of the high priest, worn upon the front of the ephod. It was a double piece of richly embroidered stuff, a span square, set with twelve precious stones, on which were engraved the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. See Ephod.

Braided; broidered. [Obs.] Alle his clothes brouded up and down. Chaucer.
BROWDYNG n.
Embroidery. [Obs.] Of goldsmithrye, of browdying, and of steel. Chaucer.
CASHMERE n.
goats of Cashmere, Thibet, and the Himalayas. Some cashmere, of fine quality, is richly embroidered for sale to Europeans.

CREWELWORK n.
Embroidery in crewels, commonly done upon some plain material, such as linen.
CUTWORK n.
An ancient term for embroidery, esp. applied to the earliest form of lace, or to that early embroidery on linen and the like, from which the manufacture of lace was developed.
CYCLAS n.
A long gown or surcoat (cut off in front), worn in the Middle Ages. It was sometimes embroidered or interwoven with gold. Also, a rich stuff from which the gown was made.

phod. The ephod for the priests was of plain linen; that for the high priest was richly embroidered in colors. The breastplate of the high priest was worn upon the ephod in front. Exodus xxviii. 6-12.
