MALAYALAM n.
The name given to one the cultivated Dravidian languages, closely related to the Tamil. Yule.
MAMMALOGY n.
The science which relates to mammals or the Mammalia. See Mammalia.
MANAKIN n.
nd others have the wings and tail curiously ornamented. The name is sometimes applied to related birds of other families.

The anterior pair of mouth organs of insects, crustaceaus, and related animals, whether adapted for biting or not. See Illust. of Diptera.
MANGO n.
the name. -- Mango tree (Bot.), an East Indian tree of the genus Mangifera (M. Indica), related to the cashew and the sumac. It grows to a large size, and produces the mango of commerce. It is now cultivated in tropical America.

A silk or woolen vestment without sleeves worn by cardinals, bishops, abbots, and the prelates of the Roman court. It has a low collar, is fastened in front, and reaches almost to the knees.
MANUCODE n.
Any bird of the genus Manucodia, of Australia and New Guinea. They are related to the bird of paradise.
MARGARITE n.
A mineral related to the micas, but low in silica and yielding brittle folia with pearly luster.
MARGARODITE n.
A hidrous potash mica related to muscovite.
MARSUPIATE a.
Related to or resembling the marsupials; furnished with a pouch for the young, as the marsupials, and also some fishes and Crustacea.

A West Indian food fish (Malacanthus plumieri) related to the tilefish.

mealy wings of an insect. Shak. Mealy bug (Zoöl.), a scale insect (Coccus adonidum, and related species), covered with a white powderlike substance. It is a common pest in hothouses.

ertaining to, or obtained from, the poppy or opium; specif. (Chem.), designating an acid related to aconitic acid, found in opium and extracted as a white crystalline substance.
