MACCABEES n. 2 definitions
The name given in later times to the Asmonæans, a family of Jewish patriots, who headed a religious revolt in the reign of Antiochus IV., 168-161 B. C., which led to a period of freedom for Israel. Schaff-Herzog.
MALAMBO n.
A yellowish aromatic bark, used in medicine and perfumery, said to be from the South American shrub Croton Malambo.

Wishing evil; disposed to injure others; rejoicing in another's misfortune.

A kind of brick of a light brown or yellowish color, made of sand, clay, and chalk.

MASTIC n.
A resin exuding from the mastic tree, and obtained by incision. The best is in yellowish white, semitransparent tears, of a faint smell, and is used as an astringent and an aromatic, also as an ingredient in varnishes.

European mink is Putorius lutreola. The common American mink (P. vison) varies from yellowish brown to black. Its fur is highly valued. Called also minx, nurik, and vison.
