THORACIC a.
, the great trunk of the lymphatic vessels, situated on the ventral side of the vertebral column in the thorax and abdomen. See Illust. of Lacteal.
THROAT n.
The part of the neck in front of, or ventral to, the vertebral column.
TORUS n.

sometimes applied to a pivot joint like that between the atlas and axis in the vertebral column.

of a pilaster which is between the base and the capital, corresponding to the shaft of a column.

A thermometer by merely inverting which the temperature may be registered. The column of mercury is broken and, as it remains until the instrument is reset, the reading may be made at leisure.

A column of igneous rock formed by congelation of lava in the conduit of a volcano and later exposed by the removal of surrounding rocks.
WATER BAROMETER n.
A barometer in which the changes of atmospheric pressure are indicated by the motion of a column of water instead of mercury. It requires a column of water about thirty-three feet in height.
WITHERITE n.
Barium carbonate occurring in white or gray six-sided twin crystals, and also in columnar or granular masses.
