Discuss 2 Kings 5

Hello Terry. Naamans Heart. When you look at 2 Kings 5:1 gives great insight

To the man's heart he obeyed his master and honourable and a mighty man

Of valor all gualities of a man's heart. When he was angry with Elisha sending

His messenger out and told to wash in the Jordan which was not known to be

Clean naaman being the great leader thought it was an insult. But when his right

Hand men waited until he was calmed down and reasoned with him saying he

Didn't ask to go to battle just go dip seven times in the creek. He was healed

And a remarkable point is he went back and told the prophet that he had to go

The house of a pagan god with his boss and the prophet said go in peace.

    Talk about grace!

Thank you Grae. As I read in that passage & particularly 2 Kings 5:2-4, it was the maid who suggested to Naaman's wife for Naaman to go & visit a prophet in Samaria who would help him. I wasn't intimating that the maid spoke about going to the Jordan & dipping in it seven times, but that she suggested visiting the prophet (Elisha) who would tell him more.

"And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy."

It could well have been that God inspired the maid to say what she did, but I was simply stating the verse. Do you read it another way than I have?

Leviticus 13:45, Leviticus 14:2-3,32, Leviticus 14, most of the chapter discusses the law of strictness, sacrifice, isolation, cleansing, hinting the severity. Leviticus 22:4, Numbers 5:1,2, Matthew 8:2-4, Mark 1:40-44, Luke 17:11-19,

    2 Kings 5:1-14, note 2 Kings 5:15-27, Luke 4:14-27,

2 Kings 7:3-11, (the whole story started previous chapter/s & continues after verses I noted)

    2 Kings 15:5, 2 Chronicles 26:21,23,

    Matthew 10:1-8, Matthew 11:1-5,

    Mark 3:1-5, Luke 14:1-4,

Hopefully these scriptures help in your study

    Kevin,

Well said. We don't always know or understand the why or even what God will do when He asks us to do something. We are just to obey and leave the rest up to Him.
  • KevinAA on 2 Kings 5 - 2 years ago
We as believers, must adhere to the instructions of God and God alone, while never, ever, leaning on our own understanding in allowing our carnal man to counsel us, as the Word declares. Once the man of God gave the Word of God with the instructions for Naaman on how to be healed, he was supposed to take that Word at face value, and obey it as we are to do right now today when it comes to what the written Word of God says to us! But instead Naaman got highly upset, and refused the Word from the man of God due to his own preconceived notion as to how God would heal him, and he walked away. Thank God for the men and women who has access to us and will share their beliefs with us like the servants of Naaman, Naaman's servants place their faith in the Word of God, and trust that His Word will perform all that it says it will, they shared their views with Naaman and stated to him that if it was something big the man of God was instructing him to do, he would of done it. So why not trust him in going to the river of Jordan, and he did, and his healing followed immediately! We cant concern ourselves with the specifics of how God will move on our behalf, our assignment is to just place our faith in the Word(s) of God, and trust the Word of God to work the work of God on our behalf. When we try to reason with the move(s) of God, is when the mistakes come, every time. Amen.

God's commandment: thou shalt not covet.

You want Naaman's stuff, you end up with the whole package. By extension your seed too.

Be content and wait for God. His blessings maketh rich and added no sorrow.

FRIENDSHIP WITH THE WORLD AND EVANGELIZATION

The Word of God is God ( John 1:1) and not for any private interpretation ( 2 Peter 1:20). If it records in Rev. 12:9 that this whole world has been deceived, it did not speak of a particular country, group of people, person or religion, it meant the whole world.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God ( James 4:4).

The believers are not of this world. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith ( 1 John 5:4).

    Additional readings as confirmation.

    John 7:7; 8:23; 15:19; 17:9,14,16; 18:36.

    Romans 12:2.

    1 Cor. 2:12; 3:19. 2 Cor. 6:17.

    Galatians 1:4.

    Ephesians 2:2.

    1 John 2:15; 4:5; 5:4.

The Word of God is God ( John 1:1) and the scriptural references we use serve as confirmation that it is not us that speak, but the Spirit of our Father that speaketh in us ( 2 Samuel 23:2; Matthew 10:20; Acts 4:8; 6:10).

The believers and followers of the true Christ do not involve themselves in the affairs of this world.

    God cannot be received by this present world and so-called world evangelization (global unity) is a deception at the highest level and the workings of the spirit of this world ( John 1:5,10; 8:23; 14:17,22; 15:19,20; 17:9,14,16,25; 18:36; Rom. 8:7; 1Cor. 1:20; 2:4-8, 12-14; 1 Thess. 3:3; 2 Tim. 3:12; James 4:4; 1 John 2:15; 3:1; 5:4,19; 2 John 7).

It should be noted that in over 36 years of service we have never collected/received, solicited or requested donations. The gift of 'Life' was freely given and freely do we give to all those that believe ( 2 Kings 5:16; Matthew 6:26; 10:8).

Seek, and ye shall find ( Matthew 7:7).

    In His Service.

    CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES

In order to put the California wildfires into a 'spiritual' context we invite you to visit the 'Current Events' page of our website. There are several entries that will explain the cause of God's wrath and why people's prayers are all in vain ( Matthew 15:9). The 'Current Events' page is a collection of thoughts and discussions on today's 'Current Events' and how our website helps to explain and examine them and put them into a 'spiritual' context.

As a direct result of religious and made-made doctrines and commandments ( Matthew 15:9; Mark 7:7; Col.2:22), history has proven that mankind does not follow the first three commandments ( Ex. 20:3-7), bur rather follows after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9). History has also proven that this whole world has been deceived as confirmed by the Word of God in Revelation 12:9, and history has also proven that 'Religion' is a deception that Satan is using to transform himself into an angel of light and an apostle of Christ ( 2Cor. 11:13-15).

You can learn more about our Ministry in Christ by Googling our 'Names' or the article "False Apostles and False Christs' or 'A World Deceived'. There is also a 'Contact' page for further communication. We invite you to review the 'Letter of Introduction' posted on the 'Introduction' page of the website. It highlights some of our work. Please note that our website was visited last year by people from over 160 countries. There are a total of 193 countries throughout the world plus the Vatican and Palestine that are listed as observer states.

On HOMOSEXUALITY, SAN FRANCISCO AND GOD"S JUDGMENT

A Gallup pole of the 50 largest Metropolitan area's in the U.S. found that 6.2% of San Franciscans identify as LGBT; which is 2.6% higher than the national average. The survey was conducted between June 2012 and December 2014. The question now is: Would God be able to locate 10 people that are righteous in His eyes ( Gen. 18:32)? We are afraid not, and please remember: he that is 'spiritual' judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man ( 1 Cor. 2:15).

We have served the true and living God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob since 1984 and during those days have learned that this whole world has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9), and that it is a narrow road that leadeth unto 'Life' and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:14). Also, that mankind prefers darkness over light ( John 3:19), as they serve after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).

It should be remembered that God's judgment will always prevail and therefore our message remains the same: Ye must Repent.

We invested 20K in self-publishing the book 'A World Deceived' in 2005, and have invested our personal money into the website for 15 years, including the website administrator. The first two distributors of the book went bankrupt and there has been no distribution since 2008. We have no Tax-Free status with Revenue Canada.

It should be noted that in over 36 years of service we have never collected/received, solicited or requested donations. The gift of 'Life' was freely given and freely do we give to all those that believe ( 2 Kings 5:16; Matthew 6:26; 10:8).

With great swelling words you speak about 'love' but the latest comments you posted just confirmed that your comments were based on religious and man-made doctrines ( Matthew 15:9) and that you have not the love of God in you ( John 5:42). For that reason our message remains the same: Ye must repent.

It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9) and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( Matthew 7:7; John 14:17).

You need not that any man teach you ( Isaiah 54:13; 6:45; 1 John 2:27), as mankind follows after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).

It is only by revelation of God that people will come to know the true Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1)

We don't take money from the people, including the poor, and live in a ten million dollar estate. We live in modest apartment and drive a 2012 vehicle.

It is not nice to falsely accuse people, whom you don't know, including their message of Repentance, which you are unable to understand since you are separated from the true and living God ( 1 Cor. 2:14), as you take pleasure in following after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).

This story provides much edification for the believer today. As others have already pointed out, the maiden of Israel was mightily used by God. Though she was oppressed in a land not her own, she remembered the God of her people. When she saw the ailing of her master, she did not rejoice in his suffering but rather took pity. She shared with her mistress, her earnest desire for Naaman to be healed. She knew that the merciful almighty God of Israel would work through his man to restore Naaman if he were with him in Samaria.

Also, we see the simplicity of salvation pictured in the heathen Naaman and his instructions to be made whole of leprosy. The healing power was not in the waters of Jordan but in the power of almighty God that rewarded Naaman's faithful obedience to wash seven times in Jordan. God's only requirement of man for salvation is obedience to the gospel call. Notice this in Romans 10:9-13. This is also lovingly displayed in the story of the thief on the cross. Ephesians 2:8-9 reinforces that salvation is by grace through faith. The faith isn't even something we drum up in ourselves but rather is cultivation of the Word of God in our heart by the Holy Spirit. Salvation is of the Lord. Faith is of the Lord. He simply requires that man repent (take sides with God against yourself) and call upon him to be saved.

Notice how the pride and anger of Naaman nearly cost him his healing. Also, he longed for religious showmanship from the prophet. He wanted to see him do a mighty work and tantalize his flesh. This is not unlike the people of our world today that seek religious entertainment instead of sound doctrine and edification from the Lord. Thankfully, Naaman yielded to the humble entreaties of his servants and obeyed the man of God.

I would also draw attention to Gehazi and how he seeks to increase his personal wealth and to afflict Naaman. There are many that walk in Gehazi's spirit in the church world today, preying upon the flock of God.

    To Carleton,

We grew up Roman Catholic. I grew up in a family of nine children and studied for the priesthood and was very active in the church till the time of our conversion. Was an extraordinary minister, lay reader, member of the choir. we were leaders of the marriage preparation course, day of enrichment, cursillo movement, etc.

We self-published the book 'A World Deceived' in 2015 and invested 20k but the first two distributors went bankrupt and since 2018 we have had no distribution. Our communication to the world is strictly through our website. Will mail copies of the book upon request.

Please note that in over 34 years of service we have never collected/received, solicited or requested donations. The gift of 'Life' was freely given and freely do we give to all those that believe ( 2 Kings 5:16; Matthew 6:26; 10:8).

God started to reveal Himself in 1984 and taught us in all things. The gospel we preach is not after man. For we neither received it of man, neither were we taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ ( Gal. 1:12). The gospel we preach and the preaching of Christ is according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began ( Romans 16:25).

One of the first deep hidden mysteries God revealed to us was the Mystery Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth ( Revelation 17:5), which during the last forty years has been clearly exposed. You yourself would be surprised of its identity but during your journey of repentance God would reveal all things, for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid that shall not be known ( Matthew 10:26).

The word 'repent' used in the New Testament was translated from the Greek word "metanoeo", and means to change, transform, to think differently or reconsider. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

Seek, and ye shall find ( Matthew 7:7).

There is a valuable lesson to be learned from 2 Kings Chapter 5. Naaman, a might warrior, was full of pride. The little maid, possibly a young girl in her teens, was a very humble servant was willing to share her faith--even with the people who were oppressing her. Her testimony about the God of Israel brought healing and wholeness to the captain of the Syrians; Naaman, on the other hand, almost missed his blessing because the prophet told him to do something he did not want to do. He went away angry, upset that the man of God would dare tell him to dip himself in the dirty Jordan. How many times have we missed our blessing because God told us to do something we did not want to do? Humility is a key ingredient in approaching the God of the universe. Naaman discovered that when he obeyed the instructions of the prophet that God healed him. It is a very powerful lesson. Obedience and humility are the keys to our miracles.

"Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean." Since the days of Jacob and Laban, the Syrians have held a grudge; and the crossing of Israel over Jordan to possess the Promised Land has ever been the point of contention and hatred for Israel of all its neighbors. They are the same hostilities today! First repent, then will come the healing!

You know it's difficult to share things with people, people want to see to believe and its so hard to discuss or share with those who have no faith,if they do it's of what's in this world,so many don't know of the spiritual war fare going on,the war going on with n us for fathers purpose, and Surrendering All for his purpose and what we get in return,it's not bc of gold and mansions, its for JESUS!!!

Your healin can be in arms reach, the spirit of pride will hinder u from the blessins of God. When askin God to order your steps, sometimes God will allow your steps to go backward in which will lead u to be out before a living God. Naaman didnt want to go backwards to receive his healin. God is a dimensional God, what appeared to be filthy waters of Israel was the anointed water of Jesus Baptism!
